NAUDERO: The sixth death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is being observed today across the country. Pakistan People’s Party has finalized the arrangements for the main gathering in Garhi Khuda Bux, SAMAA reported Friday.

The entire central leadership of Pakistan People’s Party yesterday reached Naudero to mark the occasion. The caravans of jialas started arriving for the anniversary from different cities since previous afternoon.

Earlier yesterday, the PPP leadership including President Asif Ali Zardari, the party’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asifa and Bakhtawar visited the shrine of Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bux and laid floral wreaths over there. Garhi Khuda Bux—renowned for Bhutto family’s ancestral cemetery—has been sealed for VIP movements.

The former President Zardari yesterday inaugurated the Naudero branch of Sindh Bank and distributed Women Excellency Awards.

Special public gatherings will be held across the country to mark the day of Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom on December 27; meanwhile, the main function of death anniversary will be organized in Garhi Khuda Bux, well protected under the security cordon of 7,000 personnel of police, the rangers and commandoes.

It should be mentioned here that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007, after addressing a large public gathering at historic Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi.

Talking to media at Sukkur airport, Aitzaz Ahsan said there is no final word regarding Bilwal Bhutto contesting the elections.

Speaking on the same issue, former Sindh interior minister Zulfiqar Mirza noted Bilawal Bhutto will win the polls with landslide victory if ever he vies for a seat.
